Setting Up Email Forwarders in cPanel

Overview

The Email Forwarding Functionality allows users to automatically redirect incoming emails from one address to another.

Prerequisites

  • Access to cPanel.
  • Familiarity with the Email section in cPanel.

Procedure

1. Access the Forwarders Option Navigate to the Email category within cPanel. Choose the Forwarders option.

3. Initiate Forwarder Creation Within the Forwarders interface, click on the "Add Forwarder" option.

4. Input Forwarding Address On the next screen, input the desired address into the "Address to Forward" field. This is the account where you wish to redirect the incoming emails.

5. Select Domain Choose the appropriate domain associated with your email account.

6. Determine Destination Pick your preferred Destination option:

7. Forward to email address: Enter the address to which you want to redirect incoming emails.

8. Discard and alert the sender (at SMTP time): Choose this to reject incoming emails and send an error message. Customise the error response in the "Failure Message" field.

9. Advanced Settings If necessary, tap on "Advanced Options" for more configurations.

10. Forward to a system account: This sends incoming emails to a designated system user. Note that system users don't possess external-facing email addresses.

11. Pipe to a Program: Automatically redirect incoming emails to a specified program using the path input.

12. Discard (Not Advised): Rejects incoming emails without sending an error response to the sender.

13. Completion Click the "Add Forwarder" button to finalise the setup.
